When I first started using a computer years ago I was terrorized that I would break it. Well, guess what, I did! The good news is that the IT person at the company had a backup of all the data other people were working on that got erased from my error. That was a good lesson in having backups of my data. Believe it or not, by doing the worst thing I could do, erasing tons of data, I lost my fear of computers. A lot of what I have learned has been self-taught, blindly doing trial and error to find a solution to a problem.
But, not everyone is like me. For some reason I am able to go onto a computer and make it do what I want it to do — eventually. Sometimes I refer to a manual or call tech support when I get stuck but for me the fun is finding the solution myself.
If using a computer is still daunting to you there is a great series of books that are straight forward and easy to follow. These are the “Dummies” books. I have used a couple, eBay For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech)) and HTML, XHTML & CSS For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech)). These books were great to help me venture into selling on eBay and understanding HTML for my websites.
For the novice there are some great “Dummies” books.
