Easily Take & Upload Videos With The Flip Mino HD

Flip Mino HDFor Christmas I got my dad a Flip Mino HD camcorder so that he could take video of magic props that he plans to sell on eBay.  Well, guess who uses it more…me.  I have a Sony 40gb hard drive camcorder that is loaded with features but the simplicity of the Flip Mino HD makes it ideal for short, fun videos.

First off, you turn the Flip on, press the record button and start recording.  There are buttons that allow you to zoom in and out.  I find them a little difficult to use but I am still getting use to the Flip since it really isn’t mine :)

After you take you video(s) you open up the usb connector and put it into your usb slot on your computer.  The software loads automatically, you don’t have to do a thing.  If you have just one video on your Flip you get this screen.

After this screen you get the full Flip program that helps you upload videos, email, edit and capture photos from a video.

Flip Software

You can upload to YouTube, AOL Video, MySpace and a website of your choice.  The following video of my cat Jack looking out the window for birds this morning I uploaded to my YouTube account.

With the Flip you can save, email, create greeting cards and edit your video effortlessly.  Here are the specs for the Flip.

  • Holds 60 minutes of HD-quality video (1280 x 720 resolution at 30 frames per second; 16:9 widescreen) on 4 GB of built-in memory
  • Weighs only 3.3 ounces; Super-slim, super-sleek design, fits into your pocket or purse
  • Features one-touch recording and digital zoom
  • Flip-out USB arm plugs directly into your computer to launch built-in FlipShare software
  • FlipShare software lets you save and organize your videos, edit individual clips, make custom movies, email your videos, and upload them

If you are looking for a simple, easy to use camcorder I highly suggest the Flip Mino HD.  The usual price is $229 but right now Amazon has it for $209.  There are other Flip camcorders that cost less but are not HD and these days HD is the way to go.

Do you have a mini, easy to use camcorder like the Flip?  Is it as intuitive with the software?  Do you own a Flip?  I would love to hear about it.
